We help make

schools safer.

ABOUT WSSCA

The Wisconsin School Safety Coordinators Association (WSSCA) was founded in 1968 as an association of professionals dedicated to improving security, safety and health in Wisconsin schools. WSSCA is a non-profit and non-government organization that includes administrators, supervisors, teachers, building and grounds personnel, health and nursing personnel, safety coordinators, security coordinators, school resource officers, school districts as well as private/public businesses.

We are managed by a board of directors, made up of an Executive Director, Assistant Executive Director, members and advisors.

We provide resources and training that empowers members to create safe and secure schools in Wisconsin and beyond.

ABOUT OUR LOGO

Highlighting the association’s focus of security and safety in schools, the WSSCA logo depicts a golden triangle—a well-known symbol used to grab attention for safety purposes—encased within a shield, which represents security. This combination creates a modern and eye-catching graphic that has a bold impact on any medium. The color scheme chosen makes the “safety yellow” a standout accent color against a modern take on a classic blue color family, which signifies trust and calm.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE PLAN DEVELOPMENT

Every Wisconsin School and School District must have an up-to-date Emergency Response Plan, and WSSCA can help develop and update plans that will meet all requirements of the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) and the Department of Justice/Office of School Safety (DOJ/OSS).

FIRE, SAFETY, AND EMERGENCY DRILLS AND EVACUATION

Ensure that all required drills are effectively and optimally planned, held, and reported appropriately per regulations of DPI, DOJ, and the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS).

COLLABORATIVE EMERGENCY RESPONSE PLANNING

WSSCA can assist with the development and implementation of Memoranda of Understanding between school districts and local law enforcement, fire, and emergency management as well as other public and private agencies that can assist during times of crisis.

CRISIS COMMUNICATION

The most critical element of any Emergency Operations Plan, Communication, requires deep understanding and adherence to concepts that are frequently changed as technology and knowledge develops and WSSCA can help.

PLAYGROUND MAINTENANCE AND SUPERVISION

Keeping students safe at school is WSSCA’s foundational focus, and through our partnerships with safety professionals, insurance providers, and facilities experts we help schools stay current and effective.
