Testimonials:

  • I attend the WSSCA conferences because I believe that many of the major challenges facing every school district in Wisconsin cross district boundaries. If the problems affect us all, we all must work together to solve them. The citizens of this state deserve an all-out effort by everyone involved in the safety and security of our schools, and the conference brings us together at one table. There is no other organization that provides this opportunity. None.
Peter P. Pochowski, Director of School Safety and Security, Milwaukee Public Schools
  • Six years ago it became required that school districts have a safety coordinator. As in most districts around the state it became another part of the duties of the Buildings and Grounds Director. I believe it was felt most of us knew what OSHA or the Department of Commerce was and generally had some practices in place to keep our staffs safe. So at that time it seemed to be somewhat of a fit.
  • As most of us do when we need a question answered or have a problem we contact our counter parts for their advice or the answer. When it came to becoming a safety coordinator there were questions I did not even know I should ask. My business manager mentioned to look at WSSCA.
  • After joining and going to my first conference I now had a place not only to find out answers to questions, but more importantly to learn how to best keep our schools safe. In six years, school safety and emergency planning has come to the forefront of issues in our schools.
  • It would be my belief that any person assigned to the safety position in a school district thinking about joining should at least take a serious look at the Association. In this day and age schools need all the help we can get to make our districts safe for students, staff, and visitors. Bob Severson, Chippewa Falls School District, Director of Building, Grounds and Safety
