WSSCA's School Safety Coordinator of the Year Award

The WSSCA outstanding School Safety Officer award is co-sponsored
by the Community Insurance Corporation.

** Winners will receive a $1,000 award to use towards their school district’s safety program, which is underwritten by the Community Insurance Corporation. **

WSSCA Spring Conference attendance fee
Free lodging at the Annual Spring Conference (March 8th and 9th, 2010 at the Kalahari Resort in WI Dells) for the winning nomine and another employee from their school district.

Nomination Questions:

A. Areas of Candidate Evaluation:

  1. Leadership for district or school program change.
  2. Techniques developed or innovations used in program development including special projects
  3. Training and Specialized Skills.
  4. Participation in WSSCA Events

B. Judging Criteria for Award

  1. Leadership for program change- Candidate has demonstrated leadership and has provided examples of a proven record of change in the dynamics of safety within the school and or district. Candidate has demonstrated sustained change over time in the implementation of safety programs for district or school compliance with standards.
  2. Techniques or Innovations demonstrated in program development or specialized projects- The candidate has demonstrated the development of specialized techniques/innovations and has demonstrated excellence through the completion of specialized safety related projects.
  3. Training/Specialized Skills- The candidate has demonstrated a continuance in skill development and/or specialized skills used in the furtherance of the school safety program. The candidate possesses specialized skills learned through training or special programs. The candidate has demonstrated through examples of work, that the skills developed as part of ongoing training have lent themselves to the development of the safety program and the impetus to move the safety program forward.
  4. WSSCA Participation- The candidate has participated in WSSCA training opportunities offered through the association and the candidate is the individual member of, or part of a school district aligned with WSSCA.

Judging:

The School Safety Coordinator of the Year Award will be judged by the WSSCA Board of Directors, WSSCA Advisors, and Past Recipients of the Award .
